Cricket Club

2004 now seems a long time behind us and Pettistree's final position in mid-table of section D of the Medite Suffolk Alliance could very easily have been a lot better but for the intervention of rain on several occasions to save the opposition from very likely defeats.

The A.G.M. was held in November and Barney Smith, the Captain for the last two years decided it was time for a break. Thanks for all his hard work in keeping cricket going in Pettistree. The Captain for 2005 will be Ivan Gotts, who lives in Bredfield, and has been a long standing player for Pettistree and also a previous captain. He will be assisted by David Coates as Vice Captain.

The annual dinner was held on 19th Feb. at The Greyhound in Pettistree. Thanks to Deborah and her helpers for the excellent meal, and for making it a very successful and enjoyable evening.

The 2005 season starts on May 8th with a cup match away to Needham Market, and then after several away games the first home fixture will be on July 3rd against a team from Melton St. Audreys'.

After the very successful match for the Cow Cutter Trophy (the Sri Lankan select side) last August, a return game is to be arranged at their base in North London some time later this year. Details will be announced when a date is fixed so that Pettistree supporters can travel there too.

If anyone is interested in playing please contact Ivan Gotts on 07771 566892.
